New employer registration
To employ and train apprentices and trainees you need to be registered.
- Download and complete the New employer registration application form.
- Send it to Regulation and Contract Management via the address, email or fax number on the form.
A Regulation and Contract Management representative will contact you to arrange a visit to your workplace, to check work, training and supervision arrangements.
If your application for registration is approved your business will appear on the Training and Skills Register which lists employers registered to undertake training contracts with apprentices and trainees under the Training and Skills Development Act 2008.
Renewing your registration
If your registration is due to expire, and you are currently employing an apprentice or trainee (or may do so within six months) you will need to renew your registration.
To renew your registration you will need to nominate which trades or vocations you would like to be registered for. If you are not sure which trades and vocations you are currently registered for, or when your current registration is due to expire, visit the Training and Skills Register.
- Complete the Employer registration renewal application form.
- Send it to Regulation and Contract Management via the email, fax or postal addresses on the form.
A Regulation and Contract Management representative will contact you to discuss your application, and may also arrange a time to visit you at your workplace at your convenience. You will then be notified in writing of the outcome of your application.
Making changes to your registration
If you wish to change your employer registration, or provide notification of a change of legal or trading name, complete the relevant form and submit to DSD using the contact details on the form.
