Automotive workers in transition​

Targeted assistance is available for current or former workers and their spouses or partners as the automotive manufacturing industry is changing in South Australia. 

South Australian automotive manufacturing workers

If you are an automotive component manufacturing worker, support is available through the South Australian Government Automotive Workers in Transition Program. Support services include:

  • information sessions
    • health and wellbeing services
    • information on jobs in demand
  • career advice and transition services
  • skills recognition
  • training
  • tickets and licences
  • travel assistance
  • business start-up advice.

Automotive component manufacturing workers, their spouses and partners, Holden workers and eligible labour hire personnel can access services, by appointment at the Career and Workforce Development Centre in Warradale. The centre is located at 2/156 Sturt Road, Warradale.

Services are available in Northern Adelaide through the Northern Futures Career and Workforce Development Centre or the Holden Transition Centre in Elizabeth.  Locations are the Elizabeth Shopping Centre, or GM Holden, 180 Philip Highway.

General Motors (GM) Holden workers

If you currently work at GM Holden, or recently left, you may access support services provided by GM Holden under the Growth Fund Skills and Training Initiative. Support services include:

  • financial education
  • health and wellbeing services
  • information on jobs in demand
  • career, transition and training advice
  • training and general skilling (such as verbal or interpersonal skills).
