We aim to assist service providers and employers to deliver quality learning experiences for students, apprentices and trainees.
Quality and compliance monitoring
The quality assurance activities are based on the following set of prinicples:

Education
We support service providers and employers to:
- understand the purpose of the department's training and skills programs and;
- provide them with information/resources that will assist them to assess programs are being delivered as intended and that any regulatory or contractual requirements are met.
Assessment
Our contracted service providers and employers of apprentices/trainees are required to meet assessment criteria that are publicly available in either published guidelines or on our website.
We assess applications against the criteria and our decisions are fair and equitable and clearly communicated.
Monitoring & Compliance
We monitor the performance of service providers and their compliance with the terms and conditions of their contracts.
We monitor the activity of employers of apprentices/trainees to ensure they comply with the Training and Skills Development Act 2008 and meet their Training Contract obligations.
Monitoring is a continuous activity that involves analysing data and information from a range of sources, including service providers and employers themselves, to determine risk. Service providers and employers of apprentices/trainees are not directly impacted by our continuous monitoring and will only be required to respond if a risk is identified. In such cases, this may involve a site visit, interview and/or the analysis of records.
Service providers and employers are given reasonable opportunity to address non-compliance prior to any action being taken by the department.
Any action taken will be proportionate to the nature and seriousness of the non-compliance.
Outcomes
We periodically review our education materials, assessment, monitoring and compliance processes to ensure they are fit for purpose.
We support service providers and employers to build their capability and to comply with contractual and legislative requirements.
We provide a range of workshops, capability building projects and information to help providers and employers achieve quality outcomes.
